Official Rules of the
ROBIN
THESE RULES ARE TENTATIVE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE BEFORE THE
TOURNAMENT BEGINS IN APRIL OF 2007
Registration:
- Each player must register
before the scheduled time of their team’s first game
- Players (subs) registering
following their teams first game is permitted but they must register before
the start time of the next game the plan to participate in and not have
registered on any other roster.
- Team captains must have
completed the online registry and entry fee payment process (or other
arranged payment format with the Return Of The Robin directors) by the
specified deadline (TBD) before individual team players can register. Teams
must be pre-paid in full before the deadline (TBD). If this process has not
been completed the next team on the waiting list will be notified and
allowed to take this teams slot.
- Player registration will
be open by 5:00pm on Thursday (the first night of the tournament)
- Location of registration
will be determined and announced two weeks before the tournament.
- All players must provide
and present a valid drivers license or proof of identification (age) at time
of registration
- All team participants must
sign a Return Of The Robin waiver at time of registration. Captains or
anyone else are not permitted to sign waivers on behalf or another
participant.
- Each player will be issued
at players badge, a helmet sticker and bag tag at time of registration.
- The helmet sticker must be
placed on your helmet and the bag tag on you bag of equipment… it is
suggested that the player badge be kept on your person at all times during
the tournament.
- Official rosters and all
credentials must be available on the bench at all time during Return Of The
Robin competition.
- Helmet Stickers: No
player will be able to step on the ice with out the helmet sticker affixed
to their helmet
- Bag tags: are used
to help in lost equipment identification on shuttles
- Player Badges: will
help tournament staff identify players from fans. The benefits to the
players are bar discounts, equipment drying, identification, free shuttle
services and more.
- All players must be able
to produce one of their registration verifications at all
tournament-sponsored event. If this verification is not accessible, that
player will be immediately ejected from the tournament or eliminated from
tournament player benefits, if there no helmet sticker on a player’s helmet
during a game all previous games forfeited for that team they are playing
for.
- Any person associated with
the team (player, coach, medic, trainer, water boy) must register and
provide necessary identification if they plan to sit on the benches or enter
the Locke rooms.
Rosters
- There is no limit to team
rosters.
- All players or any
non-player team associates (coaches, managers etc.) must be a Return Of The
Robin registered participant if they plan to be on the ice, team bench or
locker rooms. They will receive the same benefits as the players.
- All rosters must abide to
the age and skill requirement of their division any exception results is
immediately ejection from the tournament and all previous games forfeited
for the team they are playing.
- Players may only play for
one team. A player may NOT register for multiple teams. If a player is
caught playing on a multiple teams a protest may be submitted to the Return
Of The Robin directors. All games (regardless of team) that the player
participated in will receive a team(s) loss
- SELECTS: all players must
be 21 years of age or older
- Open D1: all players must
be 21 years of age or older
- Open D2: all players must
be 21 years of age or older
- 30+ D1: all players must
be 30 years of age or older
- 30+ D2: all players must
be 30 years of age or older
- 40+: all players must be
40 years of age or older
- Fossils: all players must
be 50 years of age or older
- Girls: all players must be
21 years of age or older and female
- Novice: all players must
be 21 years of age or older a no more then high school level hockey.
Format
- Tentative competition
format will be a round robin format
- Win =2 points
- Tie = 1 point for each
team
- Loss = 0 points
- Loss by one goal =0.5
point to losing team
- Each Division will consist
of 4 or 8 teams.

tied teams
B-
Total games for, total games against
C-
Least goals allowed

Flip of a coin
Team Practices
- Practice ice is available
on a first-come, first serve basis from two weeks prior to the tournament
dates.
- Teams are responsible for
all costs associated with practice ice time
- To rent practice ice time
prior to the tournament please contact one of the tournament directors (the
contact info is listed on the tourney website)
- There will be discounted
rates for ice for registered teams to practices.
Housing
- There will be an official
Return Of The Robin hotel
- To get the details contact
a tourney director
Games
- Each game will be
approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes with a 5 minute warm up
- First two periods will be
15 minutes stop time
- Third period will be
running time, except the last 2 minutes that will be stop time ONLY if the
score is within a 2 goal margin.
Officials
- There will be two
officials governing each game
- The officials ruling is
absolute for that game
- Any harassing of the
officials will not be tolerated and can result in discipline actions taken
by the Return Of The Robin committee… up to team ejection.
Sports Rules
- Slap shots are not
permitted (except for the SELECTS division). Snapshots are defined as a
stick rose above the waist. The penalty shall be a face off in the violating
teams zone. The officials ruling on slap shots are absolute and cannot be
subject to protest.
- No checking will be
allowed. Any player that intentionally pushes, shoves, checks or fails to
avoid body contact with an opponent shall be assessed a 2-minute penalty.
The official’s call is absolute and not subject to protest.
- No two line passes
- The red-line will
determine icing
- Fighting is not tolerated
and will result in a tournament ejection. If an official tosses a player for
fighting their call is not subject to protest and player is ejected from the
tournament (no questions asked or protest allowed)
- Each team will be granted
one-30 second (stop time) time out per game and one-30 second (stop time)
time out per overtime period in the championship games. Time outs do not
carry over from regulation or over time periods.
- Team jerseys must be of
like design and/or color. Teams are encouraged to have on colored and one
white jersey. Uniforms shall be free of inappropriate symbols or wording
